Hey everyone,
Something frustrating yet amusing has occured. Yesterday I wrote two exams which was pretty tiring, but I think I did pretty well on them. On October 3rd I’d written the midterm for phil3635 (Philosophical Foundations of Cognitive Science), I was expecting the grade back today. I didn’t get it.
Yesterday night I received an email from my Professor, which I read this morning. She explained that she received my exam from the Registrar’s office and… dun Dun DUN! I wrote the exam for phil3265 (Philosophy of Mind). Huh? I had this strange feeling I was ill-prepared despite my studying, at least now I know why. The frustrating part of the story is that now there’s a good chance I’ll have to go through the tedious process of writing a retest. The amusing part of the story is that despite never having taken Philosophy of Mind, let alone studying for it whatsoever, I passed the exam.
[EDIT] The situation has been taken care of.

Hey everyone,
There’s been a slow upwards creep in the ammonia levels in my tank, so yesterday I went out to pick up some Nitra-Zorb. I also picked up some replacement activated carbon filter media and a background for the tank (pictures on the way). While there I decided to pick up a fancy looking guppy with a colorful tail: he was dead by morning. I’m not sure why, I did that same thing with him as I did with all the others, yet he was belly up stuck in one of the plants when I woke up. He spent his one afternoon in the tank swimming for brief periods of time then suddenly stopping and sinking to the bottom where he would stay motionless for long periods of time. I hadn’t named him, so the police who took my statement labelled him as John “Guppy” Doe before they fed him to the police dog (this slight embellishment sounds more interesting than “I flushed him unceremoniously”). Hey everyone,
The website has been updated to version 7.2. I added crossposters and made some further minor changes to the site theme, “Dark City”. I also uninstalled the forum, since I feel I’ve learned what I needed to from it. I like phpBB3 a lot more than phpBB2, the administration panel in particular is leaps and bounds ahead of the old version.

Hey everyone,
For some reason I keep procrastinating on writing about the new home we purchased that is currently under construction. On April 15th, 2008 We’ll be moving from Mississauga to Brampton – although there is flexibility in the possession date if the builders need a few days more to put finishing touches on the house. When we first started visiting the area it was a gigantic field of mud with the occasional amusing oasis: schools were built and landscaped first, then a fence was put at the edge of the pristine green grass to separate it from barren dirt as far as the eye could see. They really did look like little oases. In only four months the desert was turned into thousands of empty homes, which are now beginning to acquire occupants. Continue reading “New Home”
Hey everyone,
Of all the terrible things we’ve applied artistry to in an attempt to disguise their true function swords are, in my humble opinion, the coolest. For a while now I’ve toyed with the idea of starting a decorative sword collection, and this year I’ve decided that it is the time to start.
I went to the House of Knives in Square One and picked up a nice, inexpensive desk-sized sword to start things off. They had full sized swords for anywhere from $100 to $300 dollars, which is unfortunate since I’ve decided $100 is my “reasonable price” cap (for now). In particular I was disappointed to find King Arthur had expensive tastes: Excalibur costs $299.95. When we got back I checked a website my mom found, reliks.com, and discovered a very similar Exalibur for $99.99 (click flag for CND). I’m disappointed in House of Knives for their noncompetitive prices, unless of course the ones at Reliks are substandard pieces of junk. Reliks is in London, which means I’ll have to wait until I have some free time before I can go down there and find out if they have good merchandise or not. [EDIT] I have since found Excalibur for $79.99 at swords.ca. If you look carefully, it’s even THE SAME PICTURE!
I have taken some pictures of the sword for your amusement: Continue reading “Sword collection”
