I read The World Without Us by Alan Weisman and enjoyed it. There’s a part where he writes about “Pampered Predators”:
Long after we’re gone, songbirds must deal with the progeny of these opportunists that trained us to feed and harbor them, disdaining our hapless appeals to come when we call, bestowing just enough attention so we feed them again.

So yesterday we went to see the showroom for the company that will most likely finish our basement. They had some very nice options. We’re a bit worried that they may nickle-and-dime us, but that’s a concern for later. We can’t get a firm price hammered out until we take posession of the house.
